Final Artists Statement Project #2

Updated: Nov 2, 2021

For this project, I originally intended on having it be based around a character model I created that was based off the game, Kena: Bridge of Spirits. While working on the model of the character, the entire model wasn't a solid figure so I wasn't able at all to customize of sculpt it. Trying out every alternative to try to get the figure to be one solid piece, the end result lead to more problems than it did to solution. So instead, I just scraped the idea and started completely fresh. I was exploring a bunch of blender video and wanted to get the basics done right before getting into more advance projects in the future. So what I did instead was just making a realistic looking teddy bear with a ball surrounded by wood floor and a brick wall. I wanted to get all the texturing done right because that to me personally is my favor aspect about blender. I liked how the light can reflect and affect the areas around the textured objects. A good amount of my inspiration and help came from a video by a channel called Blender Guru who went step by step on how to make a realistic teddy bear. I added some of my own touches to the projects such as the texture of the bear, the ball, and the design of the bear. The most challenging aspect of this project besides not having my first idea being useable was the modeling of the bear. Sculpting has always been something I've had trouble with since project 1 and I'd much rather prefer 2D art instead of 3D. The most fun aspects of this project would be the texturing and layout of the final image. I like setting up images for the final product and said previously, I like to texture objects and see the reaction it has to its environment.
